COUNCIL AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS Meetings of Council, Planning Committee and General Committee are generally held on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. on a three week cycle. All members of Council sit on Planning Committee and General Committee. Planning Committee (PC) meetings are held on the first Monday of each three week cycle and deal with land use planning and development matters including Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments. Deputations regarding planning and development proposals are held at PC meetings. Public Meetings pursuant to the Planning Act are held at 7:00 p.m. followed by Planning Committee. All PC and Planning Public Meetings are held at the Udney Community Centre at 2347 Concession Road 10. General Committee (GC) meetings are held on the second Monday of each three week cycle and deal with all corporate matters of Administration/Finance/Personnel, Culture & Recreation, Environmental Services, Protective Services and Transportation Services. GC meetings are held in the Council Chambers of the Administration Building. Council meetings are held on the third Monday of each three week cycle in the Council Chambers of the Administration Building at 2297 Highway 12, Brechin. Deputations by residents concerning relevant Council items are held during Council meetings. Click here to find out how to make a deputation to Council. Closed meetings of Council, PC or GC may be held to discuss confidential matters without the public present. Closed session items include the following: · Security of public property · Personnel matters · Acquisition and sale of land · Labour relations · Litigation or potential litigation matters · Solicitor/client privilege and · Intergovernmental affairs matter. Special Council, Planning Committee or General Committee meetings may be called at any time by the Mayor to deal with matters of an urgent nature. Twenty-four hours notice is required except in the case of a disaster. Town Hall meetings are held four times throughout the year and provide an opportunity for you, the resident, to address Council on any matter you feel is pertinent to Council’s agenda. Town Hall meetings have not been scheduled for 2009.
