The Treasury department is comprised of 7 full time staff members including the Manager of Corporate Services/Treasurer and Tax Collector. The department is responsible for the administration of all financial matters relating to the Township including payment of accounts, billing and collection of receivables and property taxes, employee payroll, capital forecasts, annual operating budgets and all other matters relating to these functions.

The CAO and Manager of Corporate Services/Treasurer are responsible to prepare the long term capital forecast and annual estimates of revenues and expenditures. Financial control within the organization is a large part of this position. As well the CAO is constantly on the lookout for grants to assist the Township.

NOTE:  Your interim tax amount is calculated based on 50% of your previous year's taxes.  Your total tax liability for the current year will be calculated and billed in June and your interim levy deducted from it.

Tax Bill Payment Options

Personal Payment

  • Township Office during business hours
  • Letter slot in the back door for use after hours
  • Payment drop off box at front entrance
Financial Institutions
Subject to the Bank Service Charge, taxes may be paid at most major financial institutions.

Mail
Payments must reach this office by the due date. Enclose the stub and write the Roll/Account Number on the cheque. Post dated cheques for the due date ARE accepted.

Telephone/P.C. Banking
The Township has implemented telephone/p.c. banking servicing with most banks, financial  institutions and credit unions. Please contact the financial institution for more information on the use of this service. Our Merchant number is 00642 and we are listed as “Ramara Township Taxes”.

Pre-authorized Payment
Payments can be withdrawn automatically from your bank account, on either a monthly or regular instalment basis. The Township also offers an arrears program for people who require this service. Enrolment will be allowed provided all necessary requirements are met and 30 days advance notice is given.

A FEE OF $21.00 IS APPLIED ON RETURNED CHEQUES OR PAYMENTS

Receipts
Under Bylaw 2007.38 the following fees will apply:
If a receipt is requested subsequent to payment of taxes, a $6.00 fee will be charged (current and prior year only). Tax history searches - $21.00/year – for information no longer on the computer.

Late Payment Charges/Penalty
Interest/penalty is added on the 1st day of default of each instalment at the rate of .75%. On the 1st day of each month interest/penalty is calculated at 1 ¼ % for each month taxes remaining unpaid.
